Health Policy and Technology Veteran Joins Social Interest Solutions as Director of Policy

Terri Shaw to Drive Organization’s Policy Agenda

Sacramento, CA – September 19, 2014

Social Interest Solutions (SIS) a mission-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to quality health and social services through technology and policy solutions, today announced that health policy and technology veteran Terri Shaw has joined Social Interest Solutions as Director of Policy. Reporting to John Caterham, SIS President and CEO, Shaw will lead the organization’s policy activities and leverage the organization’s technology expertise to inform federal, state, and local policy developments. 

“A highly-regarded expert in the field of health policy, Terri will be instrumental in helping the organization fulfill its commitment to further advancing access to public and private health and social services for underserved individuals and communities,” said Caterham. “Her deep knowledge of federal and state health policy issues and expertise in the use of information technology as a catalyst for change will play an integral role in ensuring we continue to deliver upon our mission.”

Shaw brings nearly twenty years of experience in health policy and technology to SIS, including a leading role in developing and implementing eligibility and enrollment technologies in support of the Affordable Care Act. She served as a Usability Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the California Healthcare Eligibility, Enrollment and Retention System (CalHEERS) project and directed the Enroll UX 2014 project, which provided a reference model for federal and state online applications under the ACA. Previously, Shaw held key roles at The Children’s Partnership, the Center for American Progress, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, among others. She has also served on multiple advisory bodies, such as the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology Policy Committee Enrollment Workgroup and the California Health and Human Services Agency eHealth Technical Advisory Committee.

Shaw received an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
